Vision and Values
Objectives for Plan-it Youth, New South Wales Department of Education and Community include:
- supporting students to plan and manage their personal goals.
- matching the skills and experiences of volunteer mentors with the needs of students.
- establishing and maintaining community partnerships.
- improving the retention of students at school. (This is not a goal for mentors. Mentors aim to give students the freedom to consider options. Many young people are choosing to stay at school.)
Our Vision in the Hunter/Central Coast Region
To be recognised as a valuable and effective way to nurture the talent of all students who are considering leaving school early and to encourage those students to realise their full potential.
Our Core Values
- Empower students - to recognise their own abilities and have the skills and knowledge to research, evaluate and choose jobs and training for which they have a passion.
- Be inclusive – provide the opportunity to all students considering leaving school early.
- Value volunteers – encourage volunteers to contribute life skills and experiences to all aspects of the program; support mentors and provide ongoing training opportunities.
- Engage and partner to support and integrate community (including government, education and business).
