2010 Mentor Training

Places fill quickly. Please advise your interest    in advance as we may be able to add another course if necessary. Mentors are in demand.

          

GLENDALE

Venue:   Glendale TAFE

Day:     Thursdays  (4)

Date:      5th, 12th 19th & 26th August

Time:     9:30am - 3:00pm

Also:      2nd September for an interview                             and optional workshop

 

SINGLETON

Course:  Introduction to Mentoring

                 (sponsored by Coal and Allied)

Venue:    Singelton Community College

Date:       Tuesdays (3) - to be confirmed - please phone if interested.

Time:      9:30am - 3:00pm

Also:      Be available for an interview and            

                optional workshop on

Recent News

 

 

Great news…David Mason, a Plan-it Youth student at Swansea in 2008, delivered a fabulous speech to the Year 11 students and staff and was voted in as School Captain for next year!

Congratulations to all involved…and especially David.  These student achievements give everyone a boost!

Congratulations to Ron McLachlan who was nominated by Tomaree Education Centre and received a NSW Public School Award Education Week Award (Hunter Central Coast Region).

The award is for ‘Outstanding Contribution by a School Community Member’ and ‘in recognition of his outstanding commitment as a Plan-it Youth mentor and ESL tutor at Tomaree'.

Jade Aston ( pictured) from Morisset High School won the Vocational Education and Training Excellence Award for 2007 in Primary Industries. Jade participated in Plan-it Youth in 2006.

 

“My mentor and Plan-it Youth really helped me by talking to me about what I enjoy and that helped decide what my interests in work were. It helped me with my career choices - so much I wanted to be in Plan-it Youth again!” Jade

At a recent gathering of mentors, Plan-it Youth student Samantha spoke about her experience with Plan-it Youth. Samantha was supported by a mentor in Year 9. She is currently in Year 11.

Twenty-one mentors from the Hunter travelled to Wagga Wagga for the fourth annual conference of NSW Active Retirees and Mentors.

“When you hear others’ ideas, it makes you think about the way you do things and how you can learn and improve.” Jill.
